Important Notices

• PLEASE KEEP YOUR 2020 PLEDGES CURRENT

In these disruptive, extraordinary times, Christ Church has had to re-evaluate its financial outlook for next year as a result of declining income over the past six+ months. In addition to a decline in contributions, we have lost income from church services (e.g., weddings, Cabaret, rummage sales, rentals of facility, and space utilization.) We expect this will continue in 2021, causing a financial operating shortfall of approximately $90,000.

In addition, we are faced with a yet to be determined expense for roof repair work. Fortunately, some part of this potential cost will be covered by funds which have already been set aside.

Please consider helping us fill the substantial financial gap facing us as you make your pledge for 2021.
• We sent out annual pledge campaign letters last week along with worship information. With faith-filled generosity, please give that we may maintain a strong presence for ourselves and the broader community.
• Bible study is on break until January. Stay tuned for Advent devotions.
• December 12th from 10 am - 12 pm we will be accepting drive by CHOW donations at the church.

We are currently in need of:
Cereal
Syrup
Saltine Crackers
Toilet Paper
Toiletries
Other Paper Products
Apple juice
Jelly

There will be no weather restrictions.

CHOW Pantry

As we near the holiday season we ask for parishioners to keep our CHOW clients in their thoughts, as many of them rely on CHOW for meals for their families. We are currently in need of toiletries (full-size bottles of shampoo, lotions, etc), toothpaste and toothbrushes, toilet paper, diapers, and female hygiene products.

Donations via our donation page or check are also welcome.

Connie, our parishioner who worked closely with CHOW is now battling cancer. In place of meals for her and her family, she has requested donations for the CHOW pantry.

Prayers & Prayer List

A Prayer to honor Indigenous Peoples Month

Let me not look away, O God, from any truth I should see. Even if it is difficult, let me face the reality in which I live. I do not want to live inside a cosseted dream, imagining I am the one who is always right, or believing only what I want to hear. Help me to see the world through other eyes, to listen to voices distant and different, to educate myself to the feelings of those with whom I think I have nothing in common. Break the shell of my indifference. Draw me out of my prejudices and show me your wide variety. Let me not look away. Amen

Prayer List

We ask that our parishioners pray for Alli, Anne, Bob, Carolyn, Connor, George, Sharon, Rose, Millie, Joell, Mario, Connie, and Kristina.

Let us Celebrate the First Inhabitants
This week's reflection is by the Rev. Deacon Kay Drebert.* November is Indigenous People’s Month. It is a time to celebrate the culture, accomplishments and the contributions of the peoples who were the first inhabitants of what we now call the United States. President Reagan first proclaimed this celebration in 1986, and every president since 1995 has issued an …

Faith-Filled Generosity
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.1 Peter 4:10 Our stewardship campaign this year highlights “Faith-Filled Generosity.” As we have faced disruptions, losses, and anxieties this past year, I have been impressed by the creativity, generosity and commitment of the Christ Episcopal Church community. Our Church was …

Living Without an Answer
“And the Lord had respect for Abel and his offering; But for Cain, his offering had no respect.” Gen 4:4-5 This week’s reflection is from Mr. John Endress, Licensed Lay Preacher. Upon suggestion, I re-read Genesis 4. In it, Cain and his brother Abel give offerings to the Lord. Abel’s offering is respected and Cain’s is not. Most folks read …
