Blessed Feast of St. Stephen. Happy Boxing Day.Today let us take a moment to remember our baptismal promises to proclaim the Good News of Christ by Word and example.

Stephen had no idea what he would be asked to do once he agreed to be the first deacon to organize taking care of widows and others in need. On Boxing Day, we are called specifically to give to those in need of food, clothing, and some good cheer. Following Jesus, we may, too, risk our physical lives or certainly the good will of the power community by caring for the outcast, the stranger, and those who cannot easily speak up.

Recalling the gift of the Christchild, may we gain out lives by pouring them out for others.
