Restrictions for indoor worship services
|
Everyone will wear a mask when entering and exiting the sanctuary and when in line for communion. You may mask throughout the service and please return to distancing. We encourage everyone eligible for the Covid vaccine to receive it for their own safety and for the love of neighbor.
|
No offering plate will be passed. Gifts will be collected online or in plates placed near the Church entrance.
|

Parking in the Metro Center parking lot is available. Press the button and take a ticket to enter. Please leave the entry ticket in the car so that it is readily available when exiting. Ushers will provide a ticket which you will need to exit. Both tickets will be needed in order to exit.

Sponsored Families for Christmas

Here is the list of families/children (total of 5 children) that RTS Middle School at Susquehanna Valley Central School District s looking for help in getting holiday gifts.
|
We will need the gifts brought to Christ Church by Sunday December 12th so they can be picked up and brought to the school.
|
Please DO NOT wrap the gifts - they should be in a gift bag or box so that they can be wrapped by the RTS guidance counselors. If donors would like to include a gift receipt that is helpful as well.
|
The RTS Middle School appreciates the help Christ Church has given our school community in the past and is hoping that they will be able to continue their charitable support of local kids who are in need this holiday season.
|
Each list has the child's age and likes listed with the item requested. Each child has about 4-5 items requested.
|
If a donor would prefer to donate money towards the purchase of a gift, this would be very helpful as the Student Council officers or guidance counselor will be shopping for missing items after all the gifts are collected.

Winter Warmth Project

Binghamton's Festival of Lights at Otsiningo Park has partnered with Christ Church in support of our Winter Warmth project!
|
On December 3rd members of the community can drop off hats, scarves, and gloves while viewing the Festival of Lights that will be donated to Christ Church.
|
|
The Festival of Lights is scheduled to take place on December 3rd at 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
|
|
|
Our Winter Warmth will begin early December. We are accepting donations now. Donations of hats, scarves, gloves, thick socks, and/or umbrellas can be left in the back of the church after worship service or at the church during the church’s office hours.

During the holiday season we service both CHOW clients and walk-ins. Please consider donating holiday foods, such as stuffing, instant potatoes, cranberry sauce, ect., during the next two months for our local families in need.

Please purchase a replacement floor tile for CHOW for $10. There will be a donation jar in the back of the Sanctuary now through January.

Christ Episcopal Church in Binghamton Receives Sacred Sites Grant
|
|
|
The New York Landmarks Conservancy has announced 18 Sacred Sites Grants totaling $310,500 awarded to historic religious properties throughout New York State, including $10,000 to Christ Episcopal Church in Binghamton to help fund repairs to the east gable and flashing.
Established in 1810 by the city’s founder Joshua Whitney II, Christ Episcopal Church is the city’s longest surviving congregation. The present church dates from 1853-1855 and is the work of prominent architect Richard Upjohn. The gothic-revival church was constructed of locally quarried bluestone. In 1903, the quarry was reopened to source stone for the completion of the church’s spire.
In addition to worship, the congregation reaches over 2,200 local residents a year with programs and activities such as a food pantry known as CHOW (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse,) toiletries and cleaning product collections, a volunteer-led community garden, clothing distribution, blood drives, presentations, concerts, and the Binghamton University Interfaith Council.
“Our Sacred Sites grantees maintain beautiful and important buildings, but also serve beyond their congregations,” said Peg Breen, President, The New York Landmarks Conservancy. “Throughout these difficult months, they have continued providing food, health and recovery programs to their communities. Our grants will help them continue all their vital work.”
The Sacred Sites Program provides congregations with matching grants for planning and implementing exterior restoration projects, along with technical assistance, and workshops. Since 1986, the program has pledged 1,578 grants totaling more than $14.9 million to 836 religious institutions statewide.

Traffic Patterns on Water Street Have Changed
Traffic patterns have changed on Water Street have changed to facilitate the pending demolition of the Water Street parking garage next month.
|
Water Street has become one-way, with traffic flowing north between Court Street to Henry Street. Vehicular access to the Water Street parking garage will be maintained prior to demolition, with access from Court Street to Water Street only.
|
|
The on-street parking will be free with a two-hour limit.
|
