Blessing of the Animals will take place during our Mass on the Grass service Saturday, October 2nd and during Sunday Worship on October 3rd. We encourage pet owners to attend the Saturday blessing, but animals are welcome at both services.

Restrictions for indoor worship services
|
We will continue to gather in person outside Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for Mass on the Grass and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Everyone will wear a mask when entering and exiting the sanctuary and when in line for communion. You may mask throughout the service and please return to distancing. We encourage everyone eligible for the Covid vaccine to receive it for their own safety and for the love of neighbor.

No offering plate will be passed. Gifts will be collected online or in plates placed near the Church entrance.
|
|
Parking in the Metro Center parking lot is available. Press the button and take a ticket to enter. Please leave the entry ticket in the car so that it is readily available when exiting. Ushers will provide a ticket which you will need to exit. Both tickets will be needed in order to exit.

Recovery Month Worship Service
|
|
Thank you to Deacon Kay Drebert for Recovery Month Worship Service on Sunday and thanks, too, to Paul Cienniwa, Barb Stanton, our tech team, Bishop DeDe and other Diocesan participants. You can watch the service on our YouTube channel.

CHOW Pantry
|
|
Our freezer in the CHOW pantry has died, thawing all our meat and perishable goods for CHOW and damaging the carpet as the freezer defrosted. While this is disappointing, this gives us the opportunity for needed refurbishments to our CHOW closet as well as cleaning. CHOW will temporarily be closed and will reopen in November. Many thanks to CHOW team leader, Kevin Shea, to Barb Stanton and to all who assisted in the initial cleanup. Thank you in advance to all who may be tapped for further work.

Our Vestry once again is reaching out to be in touch with our parishioners to check in, confirm contact information, and to ask a few questions which will help our parish discern priorities and ministries in the year and years ahead. As a member of the Executive Board, I can attest to the multitude of ways the Council does wonderful work for all of us across denominations and faith traditions, doing God's mission work that includes social justice, advocacy, legislation, institutional pastoral care (including correctional facilities), and ecumenical cooperation and caring in education, worship, and faith communities. There is a website and also a FB page, both containing important information about the Council's goals and ways to become involved. Thank you so much! Let me know if you have questions about this.

Global Community Outreach
|
We at Christ Church feel compassion with Afghans arriving in the U.S., with Haitians after the earthquake, and with the people of Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Ida.
|
People already are considering ways to assist, and making a proposal to Vestry.
|
In the meantime, cash to support relief efforts always is welcome. Please note Syracuse is a resettlement city for Afghans. We may be called upon to assist directly.

I cannot tell you how the light comes, but that it does. That it will. That it works its way into the deepest dark that enfolds you, though it may seem long ages in coming or arrive in a shape you did not foresee.

And so we pray we may turn ourselves toward the light giving thanks for Christ’s birth and this communion. May we lift our faces to let the light find us. May we bend our bodies to follow the arc it makes. May we open and open more and open still to the blessed light that comes. *
