Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost: In-person worship service outdoors on the lawn. This will be the last week of Mass on the Grass. We will follow proper social distancing protocol during the service. Masks are optional but encouraged for those who wish to wear them. Leashed pets are welcome to attend!

Restrictions for indoor worship services
|
We will continue to gather in person outside Saturday at 5:00 p.m. for Mass on the Grass and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Everyone will wear a mask when entering and exiting the sanctuary and when in line for communion. You may mask throughout the service and please return to distancing. We encourage everyone eligible for the Covid vaccine to receive it for their own safety and for the love of neighbor.

No offering plate will be passed. Gifts will be collected online or in plates placed near the Church entrance.
|
|
Parking in the Metro Center parking lot is available. Press the button and take a ticket to enter. Please leave the entry ticket in the car so that it is readily available when exiting. Ushers will provide a ticket which you will need to exit. Both tickets will be needed in order to exit.

Rummage Sale
|
Rummage Sale set up starts October 17th after the 10:00 a.m. service. Please join us in setting up after the service. Volunteers are needed throughout the week.
The rummage sale will will take place over two weekends this year due to the large amount of items we have. A mask will be required upon entering the building.

Christ Episcopal Church has been supporting the Community of Grace, an intentional multi-racial group of conversation and non-liturgical worship. Christ Church and Community of Grace have much in common in Christ. Community of Grace is a church plant led by Rev. Alicia Dixon-Garrard. Mother Elizabeth participated in podcasts for this group. CHOW Pantry
|
|
Our freezer in the CHOW pantry has died, thawing all our meat and perishable goods for CHOW and damaging the carpet as the freezer defrosted. While this is disappointing, this gives us the opportunity for needed refurbishments to our CHOW closet as well as cleaning. CHOW will temporarily be closed and will reopen in November. Many thanks to CHOW team leader, Kevin Shea, to Barb Stanton and to all who assisted in the initial cleanup. Thank you to all who are helping clean and renovate our CHOW pantry.

Global Community Outreach
|
We at Christ Church feel compassion with Afghans arriving in the U.S., with Haitians after the earthquake, and with the people of Louisiana in the wake of Hurricane Ida.
|
People already are considering ways to assist, and making a proposal to Vestry.
|
In the meantime, cash to support relief efforts always is welcome. Please note Syracuse is a resettlement city for Afghans. We may be called upon to assist directly.
|

ROOF/ CROSS REPAIR—WORK HAS BEGUN!
Roofers have taken the first steps to prepare the roof for Lupini to put the capstones and the cross back on the roof in the next few weeks.
|
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project. Including the Diocese's grant of $5,000, and a potential matching grant of $10,000 grant from Landmarks Conservancy Sacred Sites, donations and pledges of over $70,000 have been received to date!

I cannot tell you how the light comes, but that it does. That it will. That it works its way into the deepest dark that enfolds you, though it may seem long ages in coming or arrive in a shape you did not foresee.

And so we pray we may turn ourselves toward the light giving thanks for Christ’s birth and this communion. May we lift our faces to let the light find us. May we bend our bodies to follow the arc it makes. May we open and open more and open still to the blessed light that comes. *
