A Message from Mother Katrina

There are many things that have changed during the pandemic. Some of those changes are positive. People who are homebound can now experience worship on-line, for example. Other shifts have been more challenging, including a down-turn in church attendance—a nation-wide trend. Our focus in the early days of this transition time is worship. Deacon Kay and John Endress will be conducting a training on Sunday, October 23 following the 10:00 am service for anyone interested in being trained as a crucifer and/or Lay Eucharistic Minister (chalicist). I encourage youth to consider serving alongside adults in these roles. In addition to our Sunday service, on October 18, we will begin a mid-week Eucharist on Tuesdays at Noon in the Lounge. This follows Bible study at 10:30 am. Special services being planned for the fall include an Election Eve service of prayer for peace and our country and Tidings of Comfort, a service of healing during Advent. Worship is at the heart of all we do; experience the joy of serving in our Sunday service.

Returning to a more vibrant parish life will require leaders who are willing to serve in a variety of capacities. At the committee level, the Wardens, Vestry, and I are focused on rebuilding the Worship, Finance, Buildings & Grounds, and Stewardship Committees. Please prayerfully consider serving on one of these committees. The Stewardship Committee is in particular need of members to work on both the fall pledge campaign and an annual stewardship program. Contact me if you are willing to be on the Stewardship Committee. Once these four committees are in good stead, we will address additional aspects of our common life to strengthen our community and grow our witness to Jesus Christ in Binghamton.

We are taking the first steps forward from pandemic reality into the future. Your presence and participation makes all the difference. I look forward to what God has in store for us!

Winter Warmth Project

Once again we will be collecting scarves, gloves, and hats to hang on our outdoor railing. These items are currently available at most dollar stores for $1.25. Last year over 300 sets were taken, not including the sets placed on our railing by members of the community. Each year our winter warmth project and the community's awareness for this ongoing outreach program grows. Any donations you can make will be greatly appreciated!

Katie's Closet

We are currently looking for volunteers for a couple of hours each month to help with the clothing closet.

Thank you!
